Pastry recipe
2 Cups plain white flour
2/3 Cups butter flavored Crisco
1 tsp. salt
Ice water
Pastry:
Mix dry ingredients, cut in shortening with pastry cutter. Add ice water a little at a time. Stir and toss with a fork until clumps appear. Place on a surface sprinkled with flour and gently mold together and roll with rolling pin.
Use for other pie crusts as well.
Chicken and Dumplings
Cook several boneless chicken breasts in pot with 1 tsp. salt, some dried parsley and plenty of water. Place big pan on two eyes of stove, or one if the pan is smaller. Bring chicken broth to a boil, add some pieces of chicken cut into big pieces, layer with pastry cut in strips, continue to layer and place pastry on top. Bake in 400 degree oven until golden brown on top!
